Current Series

The Draft Horse

My current series focuses on the draft horse; gentle giants who willingly work for feed and a kind word, but with the power to turn us into dust with one swipe of their massive hoof. Belgians seem to be the draft breed of choice in Vermont, which delights me to no end.

They are beautiful and stand out in contrast to our very green landscapes. The best part is composing the harness: hard, shiny rivets, soft sweatpad, dark leather, all juxtaposed across the bodies of sorrel Belgians. They harken back to the days of lumbering and sugaring by horse and sled.
